that best describes who we are and what we do<\/b><\/li><li><b>Because God gave to us that name as it describes the very same work Jesus did when on the earth<\/b><\/li><li><b>This is the only name that completely encompasses the work of Jesus and His disciples<\/b><\/li><li><b>It explains why the health message is connected to the Medical Missionary work and used as an entering wedge or right arm<\/b><\/li><li><b>It explains why the work of the gospel should never be separated from the health work, i.e. Gospel Medical Missionary Work<\/b><\/li><li><b>This work will cover the whole earth before the end \u2013 disinterested benevolence \u2013 helping people in every way possible in a caring, loving and practical way<\/b><\/li><li><b>Because the message of salvation always includes healing; physically, mentally and spiritually<\/b><\/li><\/ul><p><b>Here are some of the definitions listed at dictionary.com and the Noah Webster 1828 Dictionary; Notice: Six out of seven of the definitions of \u201cmedical\u201d are related to natural healing modalities.<\/b><\/p><p><b>1 &#8211; of or relating to the science of medicine<br \/>2 &#8211; pertaining to or requiring treatment by other than surgical means<br \/>3 &#8211; curative<br \/>4 &#8211; medicinal<br \/>5 \u2013 therapeutic<br \/>6 &#8211; pertaining to the art of healing diseases<br \/>7 &#8211; a derivative of mederi, to heal<\/b><\/p><p><b>While \u201cmedical\u201d includes <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">many<\/span> definitions, which ones would you choose to represent the work of the &#8220;Medical Missionary?&#8221; What an amazing array of definitions were found, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">many<\/span>, not as we understand the word \u201cmedical\u201d Oh, this <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">name,<\/span>* means so much! It calls for a representation altogether different from the representation given by many who bear it. Soon these will understand how far they have departed from the principles of heaven and how greatly they have grieved the heart of Christ.\u201d <em>Medical Ministry<\/em> p. 21<\/b><\/p><p><strong>&#8220;No influence should be exerted to turn young men aside from qualifying themselves for ministerial missionary work. To this we may attach the word \u201cmedical\u201d; for it is essential that the gospel minister shall have a knowledge of disease and its causes. He should know how to give help to the sick. He should be able to teach the people how to treat the house we live in. This is a part of the gospel.&#8221;\u00a0<em>Evangelism<\/em> p. 547<\/strong><\/p><p><b>May we appreciate the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">name<\/span>* God has given us, Medical Missionary, and educate others as to the true meaning of the word \u201cmedical.\u201d It is the highest honor God can bestow upon us. It is of heavenly origin.\u00a0<em>Medical Ministry<\/em> p. 24. As the father sent His only begotten Son into our world, even so Christ sends us, His disciples, as His <u>medical missionary workers<\/u>.\u201d <i>Testimonies to Ministers<\/i> p. 24.<\/p><p>\u201c<i>Medical missionary work<\/i> is the pioneer work of the gospel, the door through which the truth for this time is to find entrance to many homes.\u201d <i>Counsels on Health<\/i> p. 491.<\/p><p>\u201cMedical missionary work is the right arm to the third angel\u2019s message.\u201d <i>Testimonies Vol. 6, p. 229<\/i>.<\/p><p>\u201cI beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.\u201d Romans 12: 1, 2.<\/p><p>\u201cIt is the pioneer work of the gospel. It is the gospel practiced, the compassion of Christ revealed.\u201d <i>Medical Ministry<\/i> p. 239.<\/p><p>\u201cReform, continual reform, must be kept before the people, and by our example we must enforce our teachings. True religion and the laws of health go hand in hand. It is impossible to work for the salvation of men and women without presenting to them the need of breaking away from sinful gratifications, which destroy the health, debase the soul and prevent divine truth from impressing the mind. Men and women must be taught to take a careful review of every habit and every practice\u00a0 and at once put away those things that cause an unhealthy condition of the body, and thus cast a dark shadow over the mind.\u201d <i>Counsels on Health<\/i>\u00a0p. 445.<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #c50f1d;\"><strong>2. We are to do the same work that the Great Medical Missionary undertook in our behalf. We are to follow the path of self-sacrifice trodden by Christ.&#8221; <em>Medical Ministry<\/em> p. 20.<\/p><p>&#8220;To every medical missionary worker I am instructed to say, Follow your Leader. He is the way, the truth, the light, the life. What names are medical missionaries called?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>\u201cMedical missionary comes under the head of evangelists\u2026 We are instructed in the word of God that an evangelist is a teacher. He should also be a medical missionary.\u201d\u00a0<em>Medical Ministry<\/em>\u00a0p. 249.<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #c50f1d;\"><strong>5. What kind of men and women are wanted as medical missionaries?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>&#8220;Human strength is weakness, human wisdom is folly. Our success does not depend on our talents or learning, but on our living connection with God.&#8221; <em>Testimonies<\/em> <em>Vol. 5,<\/em> p. 158.<\/p><p>\u201c<u>Holy and devout<\/u> persons, both men and women, are wanted now to go forth as medical missionaries. Let them <u>cultivate their physical and mental powers<\/u> and <u>their piety<\/u> to the uttermost. Every effort should be made to send forth intelligent workers.\u201d<br \/><em>Medical Ministry<\/em>\u00a0p. 250.<\/p><p>\u201cWe need here <u>substantial men and women<\/u>; we need men, those who will <u>reveal the simplicity of true godliness<\/u>. We need men and women who are <u>solid Christians<\/u>, who will not feel that if they have had some experience they must therefore be highly honored. You cannot be <u>religious at times and at other times irreligious<\/u>.\u201d <i>Medical Ministry<\/i> p. 202.<\/p><p>\u201cIn choosing men and women for His service, God does not ask whether they possess worldly wealth, learning, or eloquence. He asks \u201cDo they walk in such humility that I can teach them My way? Can I put my words into their lips? Who can be a Medical Missionary?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>\u201cWe have come to a time when <u>every member of the church should take hold of medical missionary work<\/u>. The world is a lazar house filled with victims of both physical and spiritual disease.\u00a0 Everywhere people are perishing for lack of a knowledge of the truths that have been committed to us. The members of the church are in need of an awakening that they may realize their responsibility to impart these truths.\u201d <i>Testimonies Vol. 7,<\/i> p. 62.<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #c50f1d;\"><strong>7. Who are qualified for the medical missionary work &#8211; just medical or health professionals only?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>\u201cFrom the light that God has given me, I know that His cause today is in great need of the living representatives of Bible truths. The <u>ordained ministers<\/u> alone are not equal to the task. God is calling not only upon the <u>ministers<\/u>, but also upon the <u>physicians<\/u>, <u>nurses<\/u>, <u>canvassers<\/u>, <u>bible workers<\/u>, and <u>other consecrated laymen<\/u> of varied talents who have a knowledge of present truth.\u201d<br \/><i>Medical Ministry<\/i> pp. 248-249.<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #c50f1d;\"><strong>8. Why do we need the crash course; Medical Missionary Mentorship Program?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>\u201cMany who desire to obtain knowledge in medical missionary lines have home duties that sometimes prevent them from meeting with others for study. <u>These may learn in their own homes in regard to the express will of God concerning these lines of missionary work,<\/u> thus increasing their ability to help others.\u201d\u00a0 <i>Counsels on Health<\/i> p. 427.<\/p><p>\u201cWorkers \u2013 gospel medical missionaries \u2013 are needed <u>NOW!<\/u> You cannot afford to spend years in preparation. Soon doors now open to the truth will be forever closed. Carry the message <u>NOW<\/u>. Do not wait, allowing the enemy to take possession of the fields now open before you. Let little companies go forth to do the work to which Christ appointed His disciples. Let them labor as evangelists, scattering our publications, and talking of the truth to those they meet. Let them pray for the sick, ministering to their necessities, not with drugs, but with nature\u2019s remedies, and teaching them how to regain health and avoid disease.\u201d <i>Testimonies Vol. 9,<\/i> pp. 171,172.<\/p><p>\u201cTime is short, and there is a great work to be done. These two must blend. They are not to stand apart as separate lines of work. The efforts actually put forth at present are not meeting the mind of God. Drug medication is a curse to this enlightened age.&#8221; <em>Medical Ministry<\/em> p. 259.<\/p><p>&#8220;Many might recover without one grain of medicine if they would live out the laws of health. Drugs need seldom be used.&#8221; <em>Medical Ministry<\/em> p. 259.<\/p><p>&#8220;We must cooperate with the Chief of Physicians, walking in all humility of mind before Him. Then the Lord will bless our earnest efforts to relieve suffering humanity. It is not by the use of poisonous drugs that this will be done, but by the use of simple remedies.&#8221; <em>Medical Ministry<\/em> p. 85.<\/p><p>&#8220;Our people should become intelligent in the treatment of sickness without the aid of poisonous drugs. Thousands have gone down to the grave because of the use of poisonous drugs, who might have been restored to health by simple methods of treatment. He deals out to them drugs, the nature \u00a0of which they know nothing, and in their blind confidence they swallow anything that the doctor may choose to give. For many years, the Lord has been urging upon us this duty, and yet we see but comparatively little accomplished in our great centers of population. If we do not take up this work in a determined manner, Satan will multiply difficulties which will not be easy to surmount. We are far behind in doing <u>the work<\/u> that should have been done in these long neglected cities. <u>The work<\/u> will be more difficult than it would have a few years ago. The relief of bodily suffering opens the way for the healing of the sin-sick soul.\u201d\u00a0<i>Medical Ministry<\/i>\u00a0p. 322.<\/li><li>\u201cCenters of influence may be established in many places by the opening of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">health food stores, hygienic restaurants; (maintaining health &amp; preventing disease) and treatments rooms<\/span>\u2026 Plan to carry forward the work simply, sensibly, economically.\u201d <em>Testimonies Vol. 7,<\/em> p. 234.<\/li><li>\u201cIn connection with our <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">city missions<\/span> there should be suitable rooms where those in whom an interest has been awakened can be gathered for instruction.\u201d <em>Gospel Workers<\/em> p. 347.<\/li><li>\u201cI have been given light that in many cities it is advisable for a restaurant to be connected with treatment rooms. The two can cooperate in upholding right principles\u2026 These establishments will serve as feeders to the sanitarians located in the country.\u201d\u00a0<em>Testimonies Vol. 7,<\/em>\u00a0p. 60.<\/li><li>\u201cWherever medical missionary work is carried on in our large cities, cooking schools should be held.\u201d <em>Counsels on Diet and Foods<\/em>\u00a0p. 469.<\/li><li>\u201cThe people everywhere should be taught how to cook without milk and eggs so far as possible, and yet have their food wholesome and palatable.\u201d\u00a0<em>Counsels on Diet and Foods\u00a0<\/em>pp. 469-470.<\/li><li>\u201cCooking schools should be established, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">house to house<\/span> instruction should be given in the art of cooking wholesome food. Old and young should learn how to cook <u>more simply<\/u>\u2026 They are to be shown that a nourishing diet can be provided without the use of flesh foods.\u201d <em>Testimonies Vol. 2,<\/em> p. 370.<\/li><\/ol><p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #c50f1d;\"><strong>13. Where should the people who work the cities live who are to work and warn the cities?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\"><li>\u201cIt is God\u2019s design that our people should locate outside the cities, and from these <strong>OUTPOSTS warn the cities, and raise in them memorials for God.\u201d <em>Evangelism<\/em> p. 76.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">\u201cThe cities are to be warned from OUTPOSTS.<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"> Said the messenger of God, \u201cShall not the cities be warned? Yes; <u>not by God\u2019s people living in them, but by their visiting them,<\/u> to warn them of what is coming upon the earth.\u201d <\/span><i style=\"font-weight: inherit;\">Letter<\/i><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"> 182, 1902.<\/span><\/span><\/li><li>\u2018If in the providence of God we can secure places away from the cities, the Lord would have us do this.\u201d<br \/><em>2 Selected Messages<\/em> p. 359.<\/li><li>\u201cThe truth must be spoken, whether one will hear, or whether men will for bear. The cities are filled with temptation. How are the churches to relate to the medical missionary work?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\"><li>\u201cThis is a work that the churches in every locality, north and south and east and west, should do. The churches have been given the opportunity of answering this work. Why have they not done it? They should show the relation which eating, working, resting, and dressing sustain to health.&#8221;\u00a0<em>Testimonies Vol. 1,<\/em>\u00a0p. 618.<\/p><p>&#8220;When the church is converted, there will be a very great reformation in dress.&#8221;\u00a0<em>Pamphlets<\/em> 157 14.2.<\/p><p>&#8220;Eating, drinking, and dressing all have a direct bearing upon our spiritual advancement.&#8221; <em>Counsels on Diet and Foods<\/em>\u00a0p. 57.<\/p><p>&#8220;This is true sanctification. It is not merely a theory, an emotion, or a form of words, but a living, active principle, entering into the everyday life. It requires that our habits of eating, drinking, and dressing, be such as to secure the preservation of physical, mental, and moral health, that we may present to the Lord our bodies\u2014not an offering corrupted by wrong habits but\u2014\u201ca living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God.&#8221; <em>Counsels on Diet and Foods<\/em>\u00a0p. 165.<\/p><p>&#8220;As religious aggression subverts the liberties of our nation, those who would stand for freedom on conscience will be placed in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">unfavorable positions<\/span>. For their own sake, they should, while they have opportunity, become intelligent in regard to disease, its causes, prevention and cure. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">And those<\/span> who do this will find a field of labor anywhere. There will be suffering ones, plenty of them who will need help, not only among those of our own faith, but largely among those who know not the truth.&#8221; <em>Counsels on Health<\/em> p. 506. What is the great purpose of the medical missionary work?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>\u201cCharacter then, is built by the harmonious development of the physical, mental, and spiritual powers and the message of health reform was given this movement by God as a very essential part of our training to prepare the characters of Seventh-day Adventists for the reception of the \u201clatter rain\u201d to give power for witnessing to the ends of the earth and then for their reception into His Kingdom by translation. It is obvious then, that we can not climb up some other way or substitute any other plans or means or method. This is one of the things upon which the enemy would deceive the very elect.\u201d &#8220;Character&#8221; by Julius Gilbert White,\u00a0<em>Shorter\u2019s Health Manual<\/em> p. 25.<\/p><p>\u201cMedical missionary work is the right hand of the gospel.\u201d <i>Testimonies Vol. 7,<\/i> p. 59.<\/p><p>\u201cMedical missionary work is to be a great entering wedge, whereby the diseased soul may be reached.\u201d <i>Counsels on Health<\/i> p. 535.<\/p><p>\u201cDo medical missionary work. Thus you will gain access to the hearts of the people.\u201d<br \/><i>An Appeal for the Medical Missionary College,<\/i> p. 14.<\/p><p>\u201cIn new fields no work is so successful as medical missionary work.\u201d <i>Medical Ministry<\/i> p. 239.<\/p><p>\u201cMedical missionary work brings to humanity the gospel of release from suffering\u2026 It is the gospel practiced, the compassion of Christ revealed.\u201d\u00a0<i>Medical Ministry<\/i>\u00a0p. 239.<\/p><p>\u201cMedical missionary work is the helping hand of the gospel ministry.\u201d\u00a0<i>Medical Ministry<\/i>\u00a0p. 240.<\/p><p>\u201cThe object [or purpose] of our mission is the same as the object of Christ\u2019 mission. Why did God send His Son to the fallen world? To make known, and to <u>demonstrate to mankind His love for them<\/u>. Throughout His ministry, He was to keep prominent His mission <u>to save sinners<\/u>\u2026\u00a0 God\u2019s purpose in committing to men and women the mission that He committed to Christ is to disentangle His followers from <u>all<\/u> worldly policy and to give them a work <u>identical<\/u> with the work that Christ did.\u201d\u00a0<i>Medical Ministry<\/i>\u00a0p. 25.<\/p><p>\u201cThe <u>work<\/u> of health reform is the Lord\u2019s means for lessening suffering in our world and for purifying His church.\u00a0<u>Keep the health reform to the front is the message I am instructed to bear<\/u>. Show so plainly its value that a widespread need for it will be felt. <b>Abstinence from all hurtful food and drink is the fruit of true religion. He who is thoroughly converted will abandon every injurious habit and appetite. What will be the result of doing medical missionary work?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>\u201cIf the workers will humble their hearts before God, the blessing will come&#8230;There will be a wonderful revival of gospel medical missionary work.\u201d <em>Testimonies Vol. 9,<\/em> p. 219.<\/p><p>&#8220;It is evident that light given us by God\u00a0regarding our duty and privileges has not been acted upon. Men have supplanted God&#8217;s plans with their own plans. I am commissioned to say\u00a0that\u00a0the prosperity of the medical missionary work\u00a0is\u00a0in God&#8217;s order. This work must be done; the truth must be carried into the highways and byways. And ministers and church members should awake and see the necessity of co-operating in this work.&#8221; <em>Testimonies Vol. 6,<\/em> p. 299.<\/p><p>\u201cThe change in human hearts, the transformation of human characters is a miracle that reveals an ever\u2014living Savior working to rescue souls. A consistent life in Christ is a great miracle.\u201d <em>Desire of Ages<\/em> p. 407.<\/p><p>\u201cThe Lord has presented before me that many, many will be rescued from physical, mental and moral degeneracy through the practical influence of health reform.\u201d\u00a0<i>Medical Ministry<\/i>\u00a0p. 271.<\/p><p>\u201cViewing matters from a high religious standpoint, we must be thorough reformers in order to be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Christ-like<\/span>.\u201d<br \/><em>Testimony Studies on Diet and Foods<\/em>\u00a0p. 188.<\/p><p>\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Every gospel worker<\/span> should feel the giving of instruction in the principles of healthful living is apart of his appointed work. Of this work there is a great need, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the world is open for it<\/span>.\u201d <em>Counsels on Diet and Foods<\/em> p. 459.<\/p><p>\u201cThe Lord has given instruction that the gospel is to be carried forward; and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the gospel includes health reform<\/span> in all its phases. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Our work is to enlighten the world<\/span>; for it is blind to the movements which are taking place, preparing the way for the plaques which God will permit to come up on the world. God\u2019s faithful watchmen must give the warning. It is the Lord\u2019s design that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the restoring influence of health reform shall be apart of the last great effort to proclaim the gospel message<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<em>Counsels on Diet and Foods<\/em>\u00a0p. 75.<\/p><p>\u201cThus genuine medical missionary work is bound up inseparably with the keeping of God\u2019s commandments, of which the Sabbath is especially mentioned, since it is the great memorial of God\u2019s creative work. Its observance is bound up with the work of restoring the moral image of God in man. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">This is the ministry which God\u2019s people are to carry forward at this time. This ministry, regularly performed, will bring rich blessings<\/span> to the church.\u201d <em>Testimonies Vol. 6,<\/em> pp. 265-266.<\/p><p>\u201cThere will be a series of events revealing that God is master of the situation&#8230;In all fields, nigh and afar off, men will be called from the plow and from the more common commercial business vocations that largely occupy the mind, and will be educated in connection with men of experience. As they learn to labor effectively they will proclaim \u00a0the truth with power. Through most wonderful workings of divine providence, mountains of difficulty will be removed and cast into the sea. The message that means so much, for the dwellers upon the earth will be heard and understood. What are some of the promises, blessings and trials we can expect in this medical missionary work now and in the future?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>\u201cAn ordinary mind, trained to obey a \u201cThus saith the Lord,\u201d is better qualified for God\u2019s work than are those who have capabilities but do not employ them rightly.\u201d <em>Review and Herald<\/em>, Nov 27, 1900.<\/p><p>\u201cEvery truly honest soul will come to the light of truth\u2026\u201d <em>The Great Controversy<\/em> 522 (1911).<\/p><p>\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Persecution<\/span> in its varied forms is the development of a principle which will exist as long as Satan exists and Christianity has vital power.\u201d <em>Last Day Events<\/em> p. 610.<\/p><p>\u201cIn a large degree through our publishing houses is to be accomplished the work of that other angel who comes down from heaven with great power and who lightens the earth with his glory.\u201d [Revelation 18:1], <em>Testimonies Vol. 1,<\/em>\u00a0p. 140 (1902).<\/p><p>\u201cMore than one thousand will soon be converted in one day, most of whom will trace their first convictions to the reading of our publications.\u201d <i>Evangelism<\/i>\u00a0p. 693 (1885).<\/p><p>\u201cThere is a prospect before us of a continued struggle, at the risk of imprisonment, loss of property, and even of life itself, to defend the law of God which is made void by the laws of men\u2026\u201d <em>Testimonies Vol. 5,<\/em> 712.<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #c50f1d;\"><strong>20. Send out into the churches workers who will live the principles of health reform. Let those be sent who can see the necessity of self-denial in appetite, or they will be a snare to the church. <b>See if the breath of life will not come into your churches. A new element needs to be brought into the work. If our our ministers would work earnestly to obtain an education in medical missionary lines, they would be far better fitted to do the work Christ did as a medical missionary. By diligent study and practice, they can become so acquainted with the principles of health reform, <u>that wherever they go they will be a great blessing to the people they meet<\/u>.\u201d<\/b> <i>Medical Ministry<\/i>\u00a0p. 239.<\/p><p>&#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Thousands need and would gladly receive instruction\u00a0concerning the simple methods of treating the sick\u2014methods that are taking the place of the use of poisonous drugs<\/span>.&#8221;\u00a0<em>Testimonies\u00a0Vol. 3,<\/em> p. 162.<\/p><p>&#8220;In the future our work is to be carried forward in\u00a0self-denial and self-sacrifice even beyond that which we have seen\u00a0in\u00a0past years&#8230; If we do\u00a0our\u00a0part\u00a0in\u00a0faith, God will open ways before us now undreamed of.&#8221; <em>Manuscript 12<\/em>, 1913.<\/p><p>&#8220;As we near the close of time, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">we must rise higher\u00a0and still\u00a0higher\u00a0on\u00a0the\u00a0question\u00a0of\u00a0health reform and Christian temperance<\/span>, presenting it in a more positive and decided manner.\u00a0We must\u00a0strive continually to educate\u00a0the\u00a0people, not only by our words but by our practice. Precept and practice combined <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">have a telling influence<\/span>.&#8221; <em>Manuscript 87<\/em>, 1908.<\/p><p>&#8220;God&#8217;s people should place themselves where they will grow\u00a0in grace, being sanctified, body, soul, and spirit, by the truth. When\u00a0they\u00a0break away from all health-destroying indulgences,\u00a0they will\u00a0have a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">clearer perception of what constitutes true godliness<\/span>. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">A wonderful change\u00a0will\u00a0be seen in the religious experience<\/span>&#8230;&#8221; <em>Counsels on Health<\/em> 579.2.<\/p><p>&#8220;Those who live in the last days of this earth&#8217;s history\u00a0need to be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">fully established<\/span>\u00a0in the\u00a0principles\u00a0of\u00a0health reform.&#8221;<br \/><em>Testimonies Vol. 3,<\/em> pp. 140-141.<\/p><p>&#8220;My brethren, the Lord calls for unity, for oneness. We are to be one in\u00a0the\u00a0faith. I want to tell you that when\u00a0the\u00a0gospel ministers and\u00a0the\u00a0medical missionary workers are not united, there is placed on our churches\u00a0the\u00a0worst evil that can be placed there. Obstacles will be removed as we lay hold of the promises of God. Let the Lord&#8217;s people go forward,\u00a0and\u00a0their hearts will be made strong. What is the promise to those living in these last days?\u2014\u201cTurn you to the stronghold, ye prisoners of hope: even today do I declare that I will render double unto thee&#8230;. Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain.\u201d\u00a0<i>Medical Ministry<\/i>\u00a0p. 335.<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #c50f1d;\"><strong>21. What is the connection between the health reform and the medical missionary work, the &#8220;latter rain&#8221; and the second coming of Jesus?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Health Reform<\/span><\/p><p>\u201cFor years the Lord has been calling the attention of His people to <em>Health Reform<\/em>. It includes prayer and the laying on of hands; he therefore should be as sacredly set apart for this work as is the minister of the gospel.\u201d <em>Counsels on Health<\/em> p. 540.<\/p><p>\u201cTime is short, and there is a great work to be done. If you feel no interest in the work that is going forward, if you will not encourage <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">medical missionary work<\/span> in the churches, it will be done without your consent: for it is the work of the God and it must be done.\u201d <em>Testimonies Vol. 8,<\/em> p. 75.<\/p><p>\u201cWe have come to a time when every member of the church should take hold of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">medical missionary work<\/span>\u2026 The members of the church are in need of an awakening that they may realize their responsibility to impart these truths.\u201d\u00a0<em>Testimonies Vol. 7,<\/em>\u00a0p. 62.<\/p><p>\u201cEvery worker is to make the great <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Medical Missionary<\/span> his example. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Then<\/span> there will be seen in his work a purity, a righteousness, that will bring <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">success<\/span>. Unless self-renunciation and entire consecration are brought into the medical missionary work, human ideas will be followed, and evil influences will come in to sway things in accordance with the purposes of the enemy.\u201d<br \/><em>Special Testimonies for the Church 19.<\/em><\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Latter Rain and The Second Coming of Jesus<\/span><\/p><p>\u201cThe truth for this time, the third angel\u2019s messages, is to be proclaimed with a loud voice [with increasing power] as we approach the great final test. <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">This test must come to the churches<\/span> in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">connection with true medical<\/span> missionary work, a work that has the Great Physician to dictate it all it comprehends.<\/strong>\u201d <em>Loma Linda Messages<\/em>\u00a0p. 336.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Question<\/span>? Has your church passed or failed the test in regard to true medical missionary work?<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Question<\/span>? What is the connection between health reform and the medical missionary work the \u201clatter rain\u201d and the second coming of Jesus?<\/p><p>\u201cAnd after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">having great power<\/span>, and the earth was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">lightened<\/span> with his glory.\u201d Rev. 18:1. (Read entire chapter.)<\/p><p>See: Isaiah 58:3-8. (The restoring of paths to dwell in, is the medical missionary work, repairers of the breach made in the law of God.) Notice verse 8: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Then<\/span> shall thy <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">light<\/span> spring forth speedily and thy righteousness shall go before thee: the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">glory<\/span> of the Lord shall be thy rereward.\u201d {rearguard}<\/p><p>\u201cThe work of the people of God is to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">enlighten the world<\/span>, in accordance with the directions given in the 58th chapter of Isaiah. Here is represented the plan of work which is to be carried on in every place where truth takes hold of minds and hearts. In connection with the proclamation of the message is to be done <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the work<\/span> of relieving families who are in distress. Let the truth go forth as a lamp that burneth<\/span>. Mysteries into which angels desire to look, which prophets and kings and righteous men desired to know, the church of God is to make known.\u201d <em>Medical\u00a0<\/em><i>Ministry<\/i>\u00a0p. 334.<\/p><p>\u201cAs soon as Christ becomes an abiding presence in the heart, we shall not be able to see souls perishing in ignorance of the truth and be at rest. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">We shall make any sacrifice that we may reach them<\/span>; and none of us are so poor that we cannot make daily sacrifices for Christ.\u201d\u00a0<em>Medical\u00a0<\/em><i>Ministry p.\u00a0<\/i>334.<\/p><p>\u2018If we will work in harmony with one another and with heaven, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">God will demonstrate His power in our behalf as He did for the disciples on the Day of Pentecost<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<em>Medical\u00a0<\/em><i>Ministry<\/i>\u00a0p. 334.<\/p><p>\u201c<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">We shall see the medical missionary work broadening and deepening at every point of its progress, because of the inflowing of hundreds of thousands of streams, until the whole earth is covered as the waters cover the sea<\/span>.<\/strong>\u201d\u00a0<em>Medical\u00a0<\/em><i>Ministry<\/i>\u00a0p. 317.<\/p><p>\u201cThe terrible disasters that are befalling great cities ought to arouse us to intense activity in giving the warning message to the people in these congested centers of population while we still have opportunity. The most favorable time for the presentation of our message in the cities has passed by.
